The City of Newport, Washington is located on the Washington/Idaho
border just west of the Pend Oreille River. We are less than an hour’s drive
north of Spokane. Spokane has an International airport for easy access. Newport
is the “GATEWAY TO PEND OREILLE.” From Spokane you can travel through Newport
to ski resorts in both the US and Canadian Rockies. Summers present an enjoyable
scenic drive through rugged mountains and along pristine rivers. One can see
an abundance of wildlife including deer, elk and moose along with wild birds
including pheasants, turkeys, and at the right time of the year bald eagles.
To get to Newport, travel north on Division Street in Spokane. Watch for signs
to “Newport, Washington”, stay in the right-hand lane and at the Division “Y”
enter Highway 2 which is also known as the Newport Highway. Travel 46 miles
